We’re starting our fifth season here at California Connected. After five years on the air, we’ve learned a lot about this state and have come to think of ourselves as California experts.

However, 26 minutes of TV a week is simply not enough time to let you in on everything we know.

So we’re ramping up caconnected.org with blogs, podcasts, Web exclusives and behind-the-scenes scoops to give our stories more context and depth:

Why can’t we tell every great story?
What does our production staff exactly do?
Why was this expert consulted and not another?
What details didn’t make the script or deadline?

We’ll let you in on our story meetings, post corrections, link you to related sites, keep you updated with notes from the road, and reveal the process of developing professional news, in and about California.

Better yet, if you’ve got an opinion or a story lead, tell us. Leave a comment right on this page or send us an email. Add to the clash of voices.

With the increasing importance the Web, we believe this kind of media transparency is not only possible, but essential.

We’re counting on you this season to make this thing called news more dynamic and more democratic.

Stay connected.
