Juvies

Produced by Leslie Neale, Paul Westmacott and Michael Bloecher

As of 1994, California law has allowed juveniles 14 years and older to be tried as adults. Filmmaker Leslie Neale was a volunteer in the Los Angeles County Juvenile Hall when she started meeting incarcerated kids who faced adult sentences. Their stories form the basis for a documentary Neale’s made, called “Juvies,” excerpted here for the first time on television.
