Youth Radio reports on “Sideshows”

For over a decade, the city of Oakland has been an unwitting home to late-night gatherings of young adults who show off their driving skills by burning rubber. Called “Sideshows,” these impromptu street parties can attract hundreds of spectators — and the police. After a series of fatal accidents and chases, Oakland is now searching for a way to transform the illegal “Sideshows” into a safe activity for its youth.
