The community of Markleeville, on the Nevada side of Alpine County, is home to one of the most remote communities in the state; a town where everyone knows their neighbors—and whether or not they vote. We got together for breakfast with some of Alpine County’s civic leaders to understand why they have such a strong civic commitment to electoral politics and to suss out where we might find the county’s lone unregistered voter.
