Andy Ramirez is a second-generation Mexican-American. He was raised in a Latino household in Baldwin Park, Los Angeles.
Given his family’s immigrant roots, some might find it surprising that he is the impetus behind the new group, Friends of the Border Patrol, aimed at keeping illegal immigrants from crossing the border into California. Ramirez’ group, a citizen’s patrol to watch the border, will launch their campaign this fall.
We talk to him about his project and the reasons behind putting it together.
