Proposition 73 was rejected by voters in the November 2005 election.
The regulation of abortion is undeniably one of the most, if not the most, controversial political questions in contemporary America. Prop. 73 tackles just one facet of this debate: the role of parents and doctors in the reproductive rights of teenaged girls.
We asked voters in Los Angeles what they think and feel about the initiative that would require doctors to notify minors’ parents before performing abortions, allow minors to petition for exceptions to this requirement and redefine the medical procedure of abortion within the state constitution as the “death of the unborn child, a child conceived but not yet born.”
