You may not know much about Mark Baldassare but if you live in California, chances are Mark Baldassare knows something about you. For the last three decades the Berkeley-trained sociologist has been studying the relationship between public policy and public attitudes, monitoring the effects of growth and, most recently, helping to shape our understanding of how Californians stand on the issues that matter most.
