The Santa Barbara Zoo opened to the public in 1963. The once private estate is located on 30 acres of lush botanical gardens overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Santa Ynez Mountains. The zoo is home to 600 animals. Its most famous resident is a giraffe with a crooked neck named Gemina.

Hi,
There’s a type of tropical[?] plant growing at the Santa Barbara Zoo that I have been wondering what it IS for many years. [name?]
Could anyone there help me identify what it’s called?
Please let me know if I can send you a JPEG picture of it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Dan- Best way to go is to forward a copy of that .jpg to Abel Landeros, our Facilities Director (check web site for contact info). He is familiar with all the varieties of tropical plants growing at the zoo and would be happy to ID that for you.
